Reinhold Hedlund arrives in Furudal from Hälsingland and sees the miles of forests. And so begins our story.
Reinhold Hedlund’s first sawmill at Lömån burns down. The new Östanvik sawmill will later be built on the same site.
‘Sawmill death’ hits hard, with dramatic sudden price drops. The following year is tough for the sawmill industry in the country and therefore also for Reinhold. Despite setbacks with strikes, fires and similar unfortunate events, Reinhold manages to restart operations and a new sawmill is built.
Hedlunds Trävaru AB is formed. New initiatives are being carried out, including the construction of new nail halls, a carpentry factory and timber dryers.
Tragically, Reinhold and one of his sons Ludvig dies in the same year. His son Erik takes over.
There are major fluctuations in the market and to meet the growing demand, a new house factory is built.
The new frame saw is installed. It is actually still running today and is one of the few operational frame saws that remain in Sweden.
A Hewsaw with double arbours is installed in the sawmill.
Hedlunds Trävaru AB is restructured and has two subsidiaries: Hedlunds Timber AB and Bra Hus från Hedlunds AB.
The old grading mill burns down and a new and state-of-the-art grading mill is installed two years later. This will be the start of future investments for a state-of-the-art sawmill.
Erik Hedlund takes over as CEO of Hedlunds Timber AB as fourth generation.
A new boiler is installed, to take advantage of our bioproducts, making us self-sufficient in heating the entire area.
A new green sorting line is built that more than doubles the speed of sorting and separates the dimensions.
